The first most important thing to do is to read your cameras manual from cover to cover. Digital cameras today are an absolutely amazing tool and by spending a hour or so learning about all he features offered by your camera you will begin to understand how to use these features in taking your photos. No matter what level of experience you have there is always new features that need to be understood before you set out taking photos.

Photography’s always been a visual medium so it’s nice to see a new site actually showing you how to get decent shots. It’s called PhotographyTV and despite its name it’s on the web. I talked to Peter Davey the chap behind it and he said that the web was the ideal place to run a TV site - after all most digital photographers spend their time in front of the computer rather than the TV.

Changing the colour of your eyes may not be something you want to do every day but it’s a handy trick to pull off. Professional portrait and boudoir photographer Andy Lane shows you the basics in this simple tutorial for Paint Shop Pro. Once you have the hang of this you can easily use it to make more subtle changes to change, say, brown eyes to blue. You could also easily adapt these techniques to remove red eye much more naturally than “automated” tools.
Just don’t use it to make yourself look like David Bowie!
